U.S. Senior Legacy Program Launches Women’s O40 National Team Pathway

Expansion creates new international pathway for experienced female players across the United States

The U.S. Senior National Soccer Legacy Program is proud to announce the expansion of its national program with the launch of a dedicated Women’s O40 Senior National Team pathway.

The new program will provide experienced female players age 40 and over from across the United States with an opportunity to enter a structured national identification and selection process leading toward competitive tournament opportunities and international representation.

The expansion represents an important milestone in the continued development of the Senior Legacy Program and establishes a dedicated pathway for experienced female players seeking to continue competing at a high level.

Following the growth of the Men’s Over-40 and Over-50 programs, the Women’s O40 program will operate under the same core principles: nationwide player identification, performance-based evaluation, structured selection and meaningful competitive opportunities.

Players will be evaluated through designated Player ID Events and competitive tournaments, giving the coaching staff opportunities to assess players in both evaluation and match environments.

The selection process will consider technical ability, tactical understanding, physical condition, playing experience, professionalism and each player’s overall suitability for the national-team environment.

International Women’s Cup — Arizona 2026

The first major competitive opportunity for the developing Women’s O40 program will include the International Women’s Cup in Arizona, December 3–6, 2026.

The tournament will provide players with an opportunity to compete within the developing national program while giving the coaching staff another environment in which to evaluate players for future national-team opportunities.

As the Women’s O40 pathway continues to grow, the organization is also developing its coaching, support and performance structure to provide players with the same organized national pathway being established across the senior program.

Creating Opportunities Beyond the Traditional Playing Career

The launch reflects a broader objective of creating meaningful competitive opportunities for accomplished senior players who want to continue playing at a high level beyond the traditional stages of their careers.

For female players across the country, the Women’s O40 Senior National Team pathway creates an opportunity to pursue national-team selection through a defined process rather than leaving international senior competition accessible only through isolated tournaments or individual teams.

Players will have an opportunity to enter the program through Player ID Events, demonstrate their ability in front of the national coaching staff and progress through the selection process based on performance.

The U.S. Senior National Soccer Legacy Program operates independently and is self-funded, with players progressing through an established identification and selection pathway.
