U.S. Senior Legacy Program Names Anna Edwards Captain for Pan Pacific Masters Games in Australia
The U.S. Senior Legacy National Soccer Program is pleased to announce that Anna Edwards has been appointed captain of the U.S. Women’s O35 National Team for the upcoming Pan Pacific Masters Games in Australia.
Edwards has established herself as an important member of the squad through her leadership, experience, professionalism and commitment to the standards being developed within the women’s program.
Head Coach David Jones said the decision reflects both what Edwards brings as a player and the example she sets within the group.
“Anna represents exactly what we want from someone wearing the captain’s armband. She leads through her professionalism, her competitiveness and the standards she sets for herself and those around her.
“This is a new team coming together for an international competition, and leadership is going to be extremely important. Anna has the personality and experience to help bring that group together and represent the program in the right way, both on and off the field.
“Being selected to captain a U.S. team internationally is something special, and she has earned that responsibility.”
The Pan Pacific Masters Games will represent the first international competition for the U.S. Women’s O35 program within this cycle, as the Senior Legacy Program continues to establish a pathway for experienced female players to represent the United States in major international masters competitions.
Edwards will lead a 23-player U.S. squad in Australia, with the team competing on the Gold Coast in November.
Her appointment is another important step as the program develops its identity and prepares for its international debut.
YOUR LEGACY. OUR MISSION.
