#15 - Mark Sterley
I’ve played soccer since I was a kid, but it was my “other sport” after wrestling. It really became my main sport in my sophomore year of high school. My first jersey was red and black stripes like AC Milan. I grew up as an attacker. In my teens, I became a left outside mid because I could use my left foot and run at pace. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to let the ball run more than I do. I play pick-up games all across the country, and I see young guys try to dribble through everybody. Letting the ball do the work and placing myself in positions with time and space allows me to still play with kids 30 years younger than me.
My Story

Letting the ball do the work and placing myself in positions with time and space allows me to still play with kids 30 years younger than me. It really is a dream. As a kid, you want to play for the USA and get that cap. To have an opportunity like this is beyond wild and still a bit surreal. It’s a massive responsibility. You’re not only representing yourself, but the team and the country. It’s more than a responsibility, it’s an honor. Not everyone gets this opportunity, and I don’t take that lightly. I’m excited about the opportunity to help establish a new competitive program within this country. Last year’s team laid the groundwork for us to come together and create something special.
