My Story

Jim LaBarbera is a highly experienced soccer professional dedicated to teaching strong fundamental technique while building loyal, competitive, and sustainable programs. His philosophy centers on player development, discipline, and fostering a deep understanding of the game at every level.

At just 18 years old, Jim represented the United States internationally, competing in eight different countries as the captain of the USA Under-19 National Team. He also spent three years playing professional soccer in Atlanta, experiences that shaped his leadership style and tactical understanding of the game.

Jim began his coaching career in 2000 and quickly established himself as a respected developer of talent. One of his most notable achievements was serving as the Girls Academy Director for Bluesprings Soccer Club beginning in 2008, where he grew the program from 14 players to 86 players by the fall of 2011. His ability to build programs from the ground up has been a consistent theme throughout his career.

He has served as a head coach at both the club and high school levels, including leading Collins Hill High School to three playoff appearances and later serving as Head Boys Soccer Coach at Monroe Area High School. Jim has coached a wide range of age groups—from U-9 academy players to U-19 nationally ranked teams—on both the boys’ and girls’ sides of the game.

Jim holds a US Soccer “C” Coaching License and continues to be actively involved in soccer as a club coach with Athens United. In addition, he is the owner of Premier Indoor Soccer in Athens, Georgia, further demonstrating his long-term commitment to growing the sport. In 2026, he achieved the distinction of being named a member of the U.S. Men’s Senior National Team.

Jim’s educational background includes a full soccer scholarship to Truett-McConnell College, where he continued to develop as both a player and student of the game. With decades of experience, proven leadership, and a passion for player development, Jim LaBarbera brings elite-level knowledge and dedication to every program he leads.
